Deep brain stimulation boosts near comatose patients

By using electrodes to provide electricity thereby boosting signals inside the thalamus, a patient who after a traumatic head injury could only move his eyes and a finger slightly can now communicate, move and eat independently. This could revolutionarise how (near) comatose patients are treated.
