Shear Thickening Fluid has the property that when struck with force it turns into a rigid barrier. A while after impact it reverts to gel. As it’s light, it can be incorporated into clothing and make bullet proof vests lighter.

Sealand is the worlds smallest country, interesting mainly because it’s defeated several British attempts at invasion and hosts truly safe and anonymous servers. It’s now for sale, let’s hope the new owner keeps it as a safe place for the colocated servers.

Fixing Stuck LCD pixels

JscreenFix flashes red, green and blue over every pixel at more than 60 times per second, leading to stuck pixels becoming unstuck and dead pixels sometimes being reactivated. It requires java and runs from a browser – allways worth a try before RFMming a monitor!

Big databases open again

Yet again a big database has been compromised – the US Secure Flight Database was accedentally opened up to an organisation that wasn’t supposed to have acces. Why do people insist that this won’t happen or that it’s somehow safe to have huge amounts of personal data in one place?

All that talk about them being more moral and loyal and men having sex on the brain – it turns out that women cheat far more often (40% of them!) than men do (34%) as well as want more sex to be satisfied. Men still think about it more often though!
