Ethertouch 3D touchless sensing systems

Posted on July 12, 2005 by Robin

Cool – 3D touchless sensor senses movement in the x,y,z axis and also detects speed up to (now) 1 yard from the actual monitor, allowing the user to use the technology in stuff like games as well instead of only as a pointing device.

It looks like the device comes with a USB cable, a card for in the PC, a sensor and a driver CD.

Webcam thought mice

Cybernet has released what looks like a free competitor (Navigaze) to Naturalpoint’s trackIR device. This uses a webcam to monitor you, instead of a silly silver dot on your forehead with an IR device that doesn’t like it when you smoke.

USB to USB copier

Posted on April 6, 2005 by Robin

well, this is a thing I discussed over skiiing – and here it is: a device that copies files on USB enabled devices to other USB enabled devices without a computer.
I would have used a midnight / norton commander style interface myself, but this looks like it’ll get the job done… And not expensive either!

Neural computer interfaces

Posted on March 22, 2005 by Robin

Well, I knew this could be done using electrodes, but Braingate drills into your skull and connects the wire directly to your brain!
Very curious how long you have to train to be able to use this…
